What drives the price
Genuine, OEM supplier, aftermarket
Cooling is where we lean OEM and say so plainly. The electric water pump on an N-series BMW is a controlled, coded part. Genuine or the exact OEM-supplier unit — nothing else.
Behind the marque box is usually Pierburg, Mahle Behr, Hella or Wahler. Same pump, same map, same connector, well under dealer list. That is the value line in this category.
Quality aftermarket is acceptable on radiators and simple hoses on older chassis. On tanks, caps, thermostats and pumps it is a bad trade: the part is cheap, the tow and the head gasket are not.
