What drives the price
Genuine, OEM supplier, aftermarket
Genuine oil filter kits include the housing O-rings and the drain plug seal. That is the whole reason to buy them — the small parts are already in the bag.
Mann, Mahle and Hengst make those filters. The supplier kit is the same media and the same O-rings for meaningfully less, and it is what most independent shops run all day.
Filters are the safest aftermarket category on the car, with one rule: use an approved oil, not just a 5W-30 that says European. BMW LL-01 and Mercedes 229.5 or 229.52 are specs, not marketing. We stock to spec.
