What drives the price

Genuine, OEM supplier, aftermarket

Ignition and sensors are the category where genuine is usually the cheap answer. A Bosch or Delphi coil built to factory spec keeps the misfire away for 60,000 miles. A bargain coil can come back inside a year, and the second visit is on your labor.

The OEM-supplier line here is nearly all of it: Bosch, Delphi, Hella, Siemens VDO. The same coil, sensor or MAF in the supplier box runs well under dealer list.

Aftermarket is fine on batteries, bulbs, relays and wiring pigtails. It is not fine on MAF sensors, camshaft sensors or coils. Those are the parts that send a car back to you with the same code.
